4H in the San Miguel Basin

The Mission of Colorado State University Extension is to "Empower Coloradans to address important and emerging community issues using dynamic, science-based educational resources."

The extension office in Norwood serves all of San Miguel and West Montrose Counties. We have been actively working to help the people in our communities to live more self-sufficient and prosperous lives since 1921.

 4-H offers endless opportunities for youth to explore their interests, develop new skills, and make a positive impact in their communities. From raising animals and learning about agriculture to diving into science, technology, and the arts, 4-H provides a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. Members can also explore leadership roles, participate in community service projects, and build confidence through public speaking and teamwork.

Beyond projects, 4-H is a place to form lifelong friendships, showcase hard work at fairs and events, and grow into a leader. Whether you’re passionate about animals, creative arts, cooking, STEM, or making a difference in your community, 4-H gives you the tools and support to succeed. It’s more than a program—it’s a pathway to discovery and personal growth.
