When you buy 4-H raised meat, you're not just getting a great deal—you’re getting premium, local meat that fills your freezer and supports the youth in our community!

Great Meat at a Better Price

  • Save Money: Buying directly at the sale often costs less per pound than retail prices for high-quality cuts.
  • Bulk Options: Stock your freezer with enough beef, pork, lamb, or goat to last for months at a fraction of the cost of grocery store meat.
  • Custom Processing: You get to work with a local processor to select the cuts you want, ensuring your meat fits your needs perfectly.

Highest Quality Care = Highest Quality Meat

  • Exceptional Standards: 4-H members raise their animals with the utmost care, using the highest standards for nutrition, cleanliness, and health.
  • Superior Flavor and Tenderness: Animals raised in a stress-free, well-managed environment produce meat that is unmatched in flavor and texture.
  • Fresh and Local: You’re getting meat straight from local families, ensuring it’s fresher and more flavorful than what you’ll find in the store.

Support Local Youth

  • Invest in the Future: Your purchase directly supports the hard work and dedication of    4-H members. The funds they earn go toward future projects, education, and career goals.
  • Reward Hard Work: Every animal sold represents months of effort, responsibility, and learning by these young agricultural leaders.

Be Part of the Community

  • Join a Tradition: The Junior Livestock Sale is a cherished event that brings the community together to celebrate local youth and agriculture.
  • Know Your Food: By purchasing 4-H meat, you know exactly where your food comes from and the effort that went into raising it.

You can do this ahead of time by contacting the Junior Livestock Sale Committee, who will guide you through the registration process and ensure you’re ready for the big day. If you prefer, you can also register on the day of the sale at the buyer registration table. Whether you’re a returning buyer or joining for the first time, registering is quick and easy, ensuring you’re ready to bid and support local youth while taking home top-quality meat.

In Person vs. Proxy Bidding

After registering as a buyer, you can choose to attend the Junior Livestock Sale in person or participate by proxy. If you plan to bid by proxy, you must contact a Fair Board member before the day of the sale to discuss your purchase preferences and terms. For those new to bidding or uncertain about the process, Fair Board members will be happy to guide and assist you. Whether you attend in person or bid by proxy, your participation supports local youth and ensures a smooth and rewarding experience at the sale!

After the Sale

Payment

After the sale, all buyers must make payment using cash, check, or credit card. Payment is appreciated on the day of the sale.

Processing Arrangements

Once payment is received, we will connect you with the processor of your choice. This allows you to discuss your preferences for cuts, packaging, and any other processing details. Shipping to the processor is provided free of charge as part of our service to you.

 Meat Pickup

The processor will contact you directly when your meat is ready for pickup. Please note that the cost of processing is the responsibility of the buyer and is paid directly to the processor. This ensures you get your meat customized exactly to your liking.

Other Ways to Support

Not ready to purchase an animal? There are plenty of other meaningful ways to support the Junior Livestock Sale and the hardworking 4-H youth in our community. Add-ons, buy-backs, donate-backs, and sponsorships are excellent options to contribute to the success of the sale and encourage the efforts of our exhibitors. These opportunities allow you to make a difference, no matter your budget or level of involvement, while helping to ensure the continued growth of this program.

Sale Add-Ons

Add-ons are a fantastic way to support 4-H youth without purchasing an animal. By contributing an additional amount to a specific exhibitor’s sale total, you can directly reward their hard work and dedication. Add-ons are a simple yet impactful way to encourage our exhibitors and help them fund future projects or educational goals. Whether you’re adding on to a family member, friend, or simply an exhibitor who impressed you, your support makes a difference.

Add-On Form

Buy Back

Buy-backs are a great way to support the Junior Livestock Sale while keeping your investment simple. After purchasing an animal, you can choose to sell it back at market price to the designated buy-back buyer. This allows you to financially support a 4-H exhibitor without the need to process or take the animal home.

Donate Back

A donate-back is a wonderful way to support both 4-H exhibitors and the community. After purchasing an animal at the Junior Livestock Sale, you can choose to donate the animal back to be sold again. The proceeds from the second sale go directly to benefit the 4-H program. This option allows you to reward the exhibitor for their hard work while making an even broader impact. Donate-backs are a generous and meaningful way to contribute to the success of 4-H and the community as a whole.

Event Sponsorship

Whole event sponsorship is a powerful way to support every 4-H youth involved in the Junior Livestock Sale and the entire program. By becoming an event sponsor, your contribution helps fund the event itself, ensuring its success and making it possible for all exhibitors to showcase their hard work. This type of sponsorship spreads your support across the entire program, benefiting every participant and making a lasting impact on the future of 4-H in our community.
